What RetIQ is, what it costs, what it does with your data, and where it stops.
RetIQ is a retirement planning application for the web and iPhone. It builds one year-by-year model of your income, taxes, Social Security, Medicare, spending, withdrawals and estate, so you can see whether the plan lasts and what changes it.
No. RetIQ is a modeling tool. It shows projections from the numbers you enter and the assumptions you choose; it does not know your full situation and does not recommend specific products or actions.
No. There is no sign-up and no login. The web app saves your plan in your browser's local storage; the iPhone app saves it on the device.
Yes. The web app works without a connection after the first load (it installs as a PWA), and the iPhone app is offline from installation. An exported plan file opens anywhere, forever.
The trial is free for 30 days, with every feature unlocked and no card required. The licence is a one-time purchase, at a discount while you are in the trial: $29 if you buy during your first two weeks, $39 during weeks three and four, or $49 after the trial ends. No subscription, and updates are included.
You keep your saved plan. Buy the licence and everything continues, or activate an existing key if you already have one. Nothing is deleted.
They are separate purchases because they are separate stores. The iPhone app is sold as modules or a one-time Full Unlock through Apple; the web licence is bought here.
No. Your balances, income, Social Security estimates and projections are processed and stored on your own device. They are never sent to us, and we have no way to retrieve them.
On the web, an email address at purchase, used only to deliver your licence key. On iPhone, Apple handles the purchase and we receive nothing. Our marketing pages use Cloudflare's cookie-less, aggregate web analytics — no cookies, no cross-site tracking, no individual profiles. The app itself makes no analytics requests. The full list of every external contact is on the Security page.
No. The app sets no cookies, loads no third-party scripts, and contacts only the licensing worker and the regulatory-constants endpoint. A strict Content-Security-Policy is shipped in the app page.
Cash, brokerage, pre-tax (IRA/401k/403b/457b), Roth, HSA, inherited IRAs and Roths, non-qualified annuities, gradual-release annuities, pensions (including survivor options), Social Security (including spousal, survivor, divorced-spouse and SSDI), recurring income streams, and one-time events.
Federal and state income tax with 2026 brackets, capital gains and NIIT, IRMAA and Medicare premiums, ACA subsidies, FICA and self-employment tax, RMDs, SEPP/§72(t), QCDs, itemized deductions, and state estate/inheritance tax at your plan-end domicile.
Yes. Conversions can fill a bracket, stay under IRMAA/ACA/NIIT limits, drain over a window, or follow a fixed amount; the optimiser tests roughly 200 combinations and ranks them by your goal. Social Security has a claiming optimizer and a survivor analysis.
You can model a primary residence (own, sell, buy, and further transitions), rental properties with depreciation and sale recapture, annual gifting, life insurance, and an estate view that shows what heirs actually keep after income and estate taxes.
Every number is tied to a cited 2026 source — IRS, SSA, CMS and HHS — and locked by 4,137 automated tests. You can read every expected value next to its statutory citation in the validation report.
Mostly ownership and privacy: RetIQ is a one-time purchase that runs entirely on your device, with no account and no cloud copy of your plan. The comparison page sets out the differences plainly, including where the others go further.
