Medicare Advantage

Also called: Part C, MA plan

A private plan that replaces Original Medicare. It usually uses a provider network, often includes drug coverage, and must cap your yearly out-of-pocket costs for covered services.

You still pay the Part B premium, and any IRMAA, while enrolled. Premiums are often low, but costs are paid as you use care, up to the plan's annual maximum.

You can change plans each year during open enrollment, October 15 to December 7. Moving back to Original Medicare with a Medigap policy may require medical underwriting.
