Understand Your Plan Better

Inside RetIQ is a complete, year-by-year picture of your financial life — income, taxes, Social Security, Medicare, every decision, projected all the way to the end.

That picture has always been yours to read. Now you can ask an AI to help you understand it — anonymously, with nothing that identifies you attached, and your privacy intact.

RetIQ has always told you where you stand. Your milestones. This year. Your focus areas. What to watch, year by year, all the way to the end. That doesn’t change. It’s the core of the app, and we’re not moving away from it — we’re building on it.

People who plan this carefully tend to be people who check their work. They read, they ask, they compare. And these days, a lot of that checking happens with AI — to learn, to verify, or just to see what a different mind makes of the same numbers.

We’ve watched that happen, and we’ve watched it help.

So we built the bridge.

Today we’re announcing Export for AI Analysis. One click. Your entire plan — projected to the very end, taxes, Social Security, Medicare, conversions, Monte Carlo, the survivor futures — turned into one clean, anonymous document. Built for a conversation with the strongest AI you can find.

Here’s what we believe. RetIQ and AI are the perfect pairing. We compute. They think. We give the numbers — every number, verified against the IRS, the SSA, CMS. They bring the perspective. We’re not afraid of AI guiding you away. That’s not how this works. A plan you understand is a plan you keep.

Three reasons we built this

One: to explain your plan in plain language. A projection table is honest, but terse. The export asks the model to explain, in everyday words, what your plan actually says — what’s going well, what needs attention, and the single most useful next step. Most people don’t need more than that. They need someone to read their plan and tell them, clearly, where it stands.

Two: to find the weak points before they find you. The document deliberately includes the places where problems hide: the Medicare surcharge year, the required-distribution pile-up in your late seventies, the conversion window that closes, the care event that isn’t modeled. A model reading the full picture will flag the thing you hadn’t thought about. That’s what a second set of eyes is for.

Three: to make RetIQ itself better. We’ll be straight with you. The detailed half of the export is written so that if the AI finds something odd — a number that doesn’t add up, a situation the app doesn’t handle — you can send us that finding. We run these exports through multiple frontier models on every release, and their verdicts have caught real issues. When you report what your model found, you’re doing that work for every other user, too.

Two parts. One conversation.

The document comes in two parts, and which one you read is up to you.

Part 1 is the plain-language verdict. A short, direct answer to “how is my plan doing?” Written for anyone. The jargon explained. This is where you start.

Part 2 is the detailed analysis. The numbers. The reasoning. The trade-offs. It’s for experienced planners who want to dig in — and it’s the part that matters if you ever spot something worth reporting back to us. The export even tells the model what is and isn’t modeled, so it never invents an answer about something the plan doesn’t include.

The same question. Every time.

Here’s the thing about AI. It’s only as good as the question — and most people ask sporadically. Ask about your plan today with one phrasing, ask again in six months with another, and you’ll get two answers you can’t compare. Not because your plan changed. Because your question did.

The export removes that variable. The document is the prompt — the same structure, the same instructions, the same sections, every time. Ask in March. Ask again in September. The differences you see are differences in your plan, not in how you asked. That consistency is what turns a one-off chat into a review you can actually rely on. One menu item. One file. Same question, forever.

The best model. And your best effort.

Two things decide how good this gets — and one of them is you.

The model. A weaker model will give you an answer. It will even sound confident. But it will miss things — the Medicare surcharge hiding in year twelve, the conversion that quietly loses money, the care event the plan doesn’t model. A strong model sees those. So use the strongest model you can get your hands on.

And the effort. A good model, given a serious question, will read your plan the way a thoughtful colleague would. So treat it like one. Push on its answers. Ask it to show its reasoning. Challenge anything that feels wrong — the numbers are in the document, and they don’t move. The export guarantees the question is always the same. What you make of the answer is up to you, and that’s exactly how a good second pair of eyes works.

And if you’re curious, different models read plans slightly differently. Trying another is cheap, and often revealing — the document works with any of them. That’s the point.

Anonymous by design — with one honest caveat

Privacy is the reason RetIQ exists, and it shaped this feature. The export is anonymous by default: account names are stripped, and the document contains no identifying information — just your financial plan. RetIQ never transmits it. The file goes wherever you choose to paste it, and we have no way of seeing it.

The caveat, stated plainly: an AI model knows what you tell it. The document is anonymous, but the conversation it lands in is not automatically private. If you’ve told the model your name, your employer, where you live — or you ask questions that imply them — it can connect the plan to you. That’s fine if it’s a deliberate choice. Just don’t mistake the file’s anonymity for the chat’s. Check your provider’s data-retention terms if the plan is sensitive, and treat the file like the financial document it is.

It explains. It never directs.

One more decision, made deliberately. The export instructs the model not to give financial advice. It explains what the numbers show. It lays out the options and their trade-offs. It frames recommendations as things to consider — not orders to follow.

A model can’t know your whole situation, your appetite for risk, or the rule your state applies to your estate. Treating its output as personalized advice would be a mistake. Treating it as a sharp, well-informed conversation — that’s exactly what it’s for.

This isn’t for everyone. And that’s fine.

Some of you will use this and love it. Some won’t. Some are happy to share their plan with an AI. Some would rather not — and no one should feel any pressure either way. The export is one item in a menu. It’s there if you want it. If you don’t, RetIQ’s guidance — your milestones, this year, your focus areas — is exactly where it’s always been.

How to use it

Open the web app and look at the top-right corner. Click the three dots (•••) — that’s the menu — then choose Export for AI Analysis. In a few seconds the brief is ready — Monte Carlo included, so the sequence-risk picture travels with it. Copy it, or download it as a file. Paste the whole document into the AI of your choice, unchanged. That’s it. Three steps, no setup, no account.

You already have a detailed, year-by-year picture of your financial future. Now it’s ready for the conversation — with the best model you can find, on your terms.

Try it free — no account, no card required. Your data never leaves your device.
